THE OPPORTUNITY

The Learning Bar is dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. We provide comprehensive HR services to both managers and employees, ensuring our organization thrives. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Director to join our team and drive our HR initiatives. The position is a full time, permanent role based out of our head office in Fredericton, NB. The incumbent will support a hybrid workforce. Ideally, the candidate should be enthusiastic about working a hybrid schedule, spending at least three days in the office and the rest of the week working remotely. However, we may consider fully remote candidates if they are located within two hours of the Atlantic Time Zone.

THE POSITION

The Human Resources Director plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s success by delivering comprehensive HR services. Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader oversees the entire HR function and manages a shared resource staff member. By spearheading initiatives that attract and retain top talent, the HR Director ensures the organization’s success. This success is further measured through achievement of annual and quarterly goals set in collaboration with the CEO and the executive team.

Others describe you as positive and approachable. You quickly develop trusting relationships with potential and existing employees, and you leverage your coordination skills effectively through a busy schedule. You will be accountable for full cycle human resource initiatives for the company, utilizing best practices that foster a culture of growth and engagement, making The Learning Bar a fantastic place to work.

Your duties will include:

  • Ensure comprehensive company policies and procedures that prepare The Learning Bar for its changing business needs.
  • Lead the organization in effective performance management practices through formal and informal reviews, up-to-date forms and processes, and frequent communication with stakeholders.
  • Guide managers and employees in confidential matters (such as conflict resolution, workforce planning, professional development, career progression, and compensation).
  • Manage the talent acquisition cycle (assessing incoming applications and performing effective screening and selection that results in hiring outstanding employees with a strong cultural fit).
  • Oversee all elements of the Employee Value Proposition, always seeking ways to improve, and deliver relevant products and services to employees.

Our growing company has approximately 60 employees, complemented by an additional dozen, or so, consultants. Your resume should demonstrate experience in performing the duties above with excellence and should demonstrate your ability to help us manage our workforce growth.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You have a certificate or diploma from a post-secondary institution, with a focus on Human Resource Management. You should have at least 10 years’ experience in a leading HR role (primarily performing as a generalist).

We are looking for someone who is a reliable, servant leader, who can effectively manage general office matters as well as the HR function, who is resilient, pragmatic, adaptable, and a team player.

You have experience collaborating with key stakeholders at the executive level to ensure well-crafted communications and change management practices.

You are curious by nature and seek the opportunity to remain in step with recent trends in the HR profession. You are (or will agree to perform the necessary steps to become) designated as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) in Canada.

Your strong communication skills will be put to good use as you prepare presentations, communications, and resources designed to support and maintain a thriving company culture. You offer intermediate computer skills, an ability to listen to others to understand needs, and you are well organized.
You can manage multiple priorities that arise throughout the day (planned or unplanned) and understand how an effective HR strategy can support all phases of the company’s journey. Your counsel is logical, analytical, and strategic.

Your previous experiences confirm excellent time management skills, the ability to apply critical thinking skills, and eagerness to assist others. While not a requirement of the position, we would like to know if you have experience or training in HR systems (particularly Sage HR).

Your success can be linked to your ‘can do’ attitude, excellent written and verbal communications skills in English, and ability to adapt to changing situations and learn new skills or technologies quickly. You are flexible, enthusiastic, and have a strong desire to help others.

The successful candidate is required to provide a criminal record check.

*A complete list of objectives, role responsibilities, and qualifications will be provided to those candidates selected for an interview.
