The Learning Bar is continuously looking for candidates with strong business development skills. The Business Development Manager reports to the Senior Director, Business Development. THE POSITION


The Business Development Manager identifies sales opportunities, engages with new clients, and maintains good relationships. Your ability to drive business growth and identify requirements for product development will be put to good use as you lead and assist TLB in acquiring new customers and selling additional products and services to existing clients who share our vision of reaching more children.

Your main priority is to plan and execute educational sales opportunities to expand our customer base, reach more children and maximize product revenue for TLB. You are adept at formulating strategies and tactics that accelerate the conversion of  opportunities into new partnerships with schools and districts..  You accomplish this by utilizing your expertise in K-12 education to develop and execute yearly and quarterly territory plans and key account plans in collaboration with the Business Development team. Additionally, you will proactively identify opportunities for increased client retention, sales, and success in consultation with internal teams.

You effectively navigate opportunities through the sales cycle and processes, from building rapport with clients through to closing contracts. Your tactics include following up on potential leads gathered through internal means, client outreach, scheduling consultations, and facilitating web-based product demonstrations. At the inception of large opportunities or those requiring significant customization, you will collaborate with the product delivery teams to fully understand delivery-related contract details.

You understand the importance of sharing critical information across departments.  Other administrative duties include assisting others to prepare proposals, contracts, and other sales and marketing related documents, and providing regular internal reporting on market trends and sales progress.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE


You have a university degree or college diploma, a Bachelor of Education degree would be an asset, as well as sales experience and a demonstrated track record building relationships and meeting goals. Your experience assisting with marketplace visibility activities (such as promo campaigns, conferences, exhibitions), and your ability to build knowledge of educational trends,  conditions and competitors will support your success in this role.

You understand the importance of utilizing the knowledge and experience of the product delivery team and meet with them throughout each business cycle to gather information related to product capabilities and resources needed to effectively execute implementations. Your success can be linked to your collaborative approach to sales; always seeking a win-win solution. You are flexible, enthusiastic, and comfortable with technology, account management and customer relationship management systems. You understand how to effectively plan and grow key accounts and know the value of relationships. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You will be given preference if you have experience within K-12 education sales, educational leadership, teaching and learning or educational technology.  Finally, you have a valid passport and driver’s license, and the ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
