As Canada’s largest provider of online student assessment and school improvement tools, The Learning Bar is looking for a DevOps Specialist in the Technology Department, reporting to the Development Director.
As a member of a small technology team you will work with the Chief Technology Officer and Development Director to plan and implement future improvements to the AWS infrastructure and processes. As the first responder to incidents, you will be willing and able to cover multiple time zones during peak times throughout the year.
After becoming familiar with our current applications, you will manage and secure AWS cloud systems and networks at scale, while working with tools to automate critical aspects of production systems, such as configuration management and deployment of infrastructure. The development team will benefit from your support and guidance as they use the AWS systems, and we will count on you to ensure the current applications are adequately supported within AWS. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining technical project documentation and supporting development activities (integration with databases) using Java as the primary language.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
For the past 2 years, you have worked with AWS, and preferably you have a relevant AWS certification. The combined education and experience you have adequately equipped you for this DevOps role. You must have:
- Knowledge of basic scripting: Python, bash, etc.
- Experience working within Linux systems
- Understanding of storage and networking concepts
- Understanding of security best practices
You are self-motivated and can work independently to achieve your tasks. To be successful in this position, you must be able to focus on multiple details, and be able to clearly communicate your thoughts and ideas to the team you support. You must be willing to be part of the on-call rotation.
