As Canada’s largest provider of online student assessment and school improvement tools, The Learning Bar is seeking our next Scrum Master in the Technology Department, reporting to the Development Director.

A member of The Learning Bar’s Technology team, you will work with the CTO and Development Director to facilitate scrum practices within the team, furthering the organization’s overall maturity in agile practices. The Scrum Master is responsible for ensuring scrum values are adhered to, while remaining flexible and open to opportunities for improvement.

You will collaborate and take direction from the Product Owners to ensure effective goal definition and product backlog management; and effectively manage projects identified within the Product Roadmap. A key role will be that of a coach for coworkers who are required to focus on high-value incremental gains towards improved productivity within the department. You will cause the removal of impediments to the team’s progress and facilitate stakeholder collaboration as requested or needed.

You will focus on building strong relationships through guidance and support for all technology team members, utilizing individual strengths. Your team’s work will be prioritized, delegated, and executed effectively. You will be responsible for ensuring effective communication within your team; with other teams at TLB. You will work with the Development Director and CTO to support efforts that ensure the achievement of company goals.


For the past 2 years, you have been working as Scrum Master and have a background in utilizing an agile mindset for developing, delivering, and sustaining complex products. Your excellent interpersonal skills and customer service mindset has served you well in your career. Some of the qualifications we seek:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field of practice.
  • Demonstrated abilities in servant leadership, acting as a receptacle of disruption (protecting the team).
  • Superior communication skills: ability to translate lingo / create channels of communication amongst the organization.
  • Previous experience facilitating meetings, stand-ups, sprint planning, etc. within an agile organization.
  • Ability to leave ego at the door, and willingness to do what’s needed to ensure the team can and will follow the defined process.
  • Must have an up-to-date Criminal Record Check completed.
